There are a lot of reasons why you’d need an HD button camera. And when you’re tasked with choosing the best one, things get interesting. There are just too many options to choose from, and when you add to this the fact that many of them aren’t even worth it, you realize that you can easily make a mistake.

Well, we’re here to help, and we’ve got just the right thing for you. First, we’ll talk about a couple of options that are all worth it by themselves. Their differing functionalities make them an obviously better pick for different situations, so we’ll try to cover everything.

While it is important to have a great quality camera, you might want to take a look at the overall best button cameras, where you might find much more than just high definition ones.

Best Overall

Resolution: 1920x1080p Full HD
Field of View: 140 degree
Motion Detection
Night Vision

When you’re looking for the best overall button spy camera, your goal should be simple – get the maximum number of features in a high quality product that you can afford. And if that’s your goal, your answer is the Relohas Mini Spy Camera Wi-Fi. Even though it’s the priciest one on our list, it is jam packed with useful features that make it an excellent choice for just about anyone.

First things first, the basics. Video recording is pretty much as good as it gets, with 1080p footage being recorded at a frame rate of 30 frames per second. The quality is excellent, especially when you have plenty of light. And when you don’t, there’s an IR LED that’s going to illuminate the scene you’re recording, so you still get useful footage even in dimly lit environments. (1)

However, the most useful feature of the Relohas is the inclusion of Wi-Fi. While a conventional button spy camera will require you to transfer footage via a memory card, this lets you connect to your phone and do things from there, using it as a control device. You also have the ability to get a live view of whatever your camera is seeing, as well as enable live streaming.

The other big thing about it is the motion detection feature. With a conventional camera, you’d have to manually turn on recording every time you need it. With the Relohas, you just turn on motion detection and the camera will start recording instantly if necessary, which is an excellent feature.

All things considered, even though it’s the priciest on our list, the Relohas Mini Spy Camera Wi-Fi is definitely the overall best HD button camera.

Best Compact Model

Resolution: 1920x1080p Full HD
Memory: 16GB Micro SD (included) up to 32GB
Battery Capacity: 2500mAh

With an HD button camera, one of the main goals is to have it be compact and easy to hide. This is the point of it – to give you good quality footage while being disguised as a button that’s impossible to spot. The Wiseup is one of the better ways to get that, being a compact variant that has a main unit further away from the lens itself.

The video recording quality is excellent. 1080p footage is as sharp and crisp as you expect it to be, and you can easily distinguish important details. Unfortunately, due to the extremely small size, you won’t find IR LEDs surrounding the lens, which does mean that quality in low light scenarios will be slightly reduced. This is one of the reasons why it’s not our top pick.

One more quite useful feature you’ll come across is motion detection. Even if you leave the camera somewhere, the moment it detects something is moving, it’s going to start recording instantly, which makes sure you capture everything you need. If this feature set sounds like something you could use, definitely consider the Wiseup Hidden HD Button Camera as one of your options.

Best Budget Model

Resolution: 1920x1080p Full HD
Motion Detection
Memory: up to 32GB Micro SD

While neither of the options above was unreasonably priced, there’s the fact that sometimes you’re just limited with your budget and you want something as wallet-friendly as possible. If that’s the case, the GEAGLE should be right up your alley. It’s a camera that doesn’t come with too many extras, but instead aims to cover the basics, and cover them really well.

The video recording functionality is the first area where this is apparent. You get 1080p video with pretty good quality, but unfortunately that only applies when there’s sufficient light. This is a very compact camera, so there was no room for an IR LED that’s going to help with night time performance.

Footage is stored on a memory card, and you can insert one up to 32GB in the device. It’s not provided, unfortunately, so you’ll need to supply your own. You don’t have to go for a massive one, however, because loop recording means that the camera will overwrite the oldest footage as the memory card fills up. All being said, if you’re on a limited budget, and don’t want to spend too much on an HD button camera, this might be a great pick for you.

A Few Tips on Buying

When you’re choosing which one to go for, the first thing you need to determine is your budget. If you can afford it, by all means go for our top pick. But if not, you should see how much you can afford so you know which of the others to go for.

To add to this, video quality is important, but not as important as the camera being small and compact enough for you to be able to hide it well. If this is okay, then you should look at video quality, and you shouldn’t settle for anything less than 1080p in terms of resolution.

And last but not least, there are some features that are nice to have as a bonus – motion detection and IR LEDs being the most important ones. You could definitely do without them, but if your budget allows, by all means get a more premium option that has them.
