Whether you want a first person perspective on your daily life, or you need to record a certain event that’s happening, there are a lot of reasons why a shirt button spy camera could show up on your to-buy list. However, if that happens, you’re looking at two problems. The first is the fact that there aren’t too many of them available, and the second is that even if you find a few, it’s difficult to choose one.

You also might want to take a look at what we think are the best button cameras, which are very similar to these products.

With that in mind, we’ll try to help. Below we’ve got a list of the top three shirt button spy camera models you can currently get, and to make things even better, we’ll also briefly discuss which features you should pay attention to when shopping. Without wasting any more of your time, let’s dive right into the cameras.

Best Overall

Resolution: 1920x1080p Full HD
Memory: 16GB Micro SD (included) up to 32GB
Battery Capacity: 2500mAh

As far as prices go, the Wiseup is right in the middle of our list. It’s not the most expensive one, and it’s not the cheapest one. We would even dare to say it is priced just right, with a feature set that caters to everyone’s needs.

First things first, this is a hidden camera that extends to a main unit a but further down. This should tell you two things. First, the camera unit itself is absolutely tiny, which is what you want it to be if you’re going to hide it. And second, you’ll have a pretty easy time hiding everything.

When it comes to the camera itself, this is a shirt button spy camera that records videos at a 1920x1080p resolution. The quality is pretty good, and you’re easily able to distinguish details in daylight. We were also surprised at the pretty decent night time recording quality, something we didn’t really expect given the lack of IR LEDs. And when you factor in the fact that the Wiseup has a motion detection function as well, you’ll realize why this is the best shirt button spy camera on our list.

Best WiFi Alternative

Resolution: 1920x1080p Full HD
Field of View: 140 degree
Motion Detection
Night Vision

Even though the Wiseup is a better, cheaper pick for many, there’s one feature that some will actually want – a Wi-Fi functionality. And if you’re one of those people who think they need it, you’ll want to take a look at the slightly more expensive Relohas Mini Spy Camera Wi-Fi.

This is a truly tiny camera, one that comes with a main unit, and a slightly larger secondary one that you can hide further away. The resolution is 1920x1080p, which is quite sufficient, and we’re happy to report that the video recording quality is pretty much excellent. It also records some really nice night vision footage, too, thanks to the IR LED it has right alongside the lens. Motion detection makes sure the camera starts recording instantly if something happens.

However, the hallmark feature is definitely the Wi-Fi functionality. It allows you to connect the camera to your phone and control it remotely, managing all functionality and being able to view and download footage straight from the camera. It does add a lot of convenience, and if you don’t mind the slightly higher price, it should definitely be your pick.

Best Budget Model

Resolution: 1920x1080p Full HD
Motion Detection
Memory: up to 32GB Micro SD

Even though both of the cameras above have an excellent feature set, they’re both rather pricey. If you’re a more budget-oriented individual who doesn’t want to spend too much, you’re probably looking for something cheaper, and that’s where the GEAGLE comes in. It’s almost half the price of the most expensive model, which should cater to many.

The main camera unit is incredibly tiny, and unless you inspect it extremely up close, you’ll have a hard time distinguishing it from a real shirt button, which is the point. The secondary, larger unit is connected to the main one with a cable, and there’s just enough for you to be able to hide it in an inside pocket of your coat.

The video recording is at 1080p, which is good enough in terms of quality. However, the night time recordings aren’t all that good, something that is pretty understandable given the lack of IR LEDs on the camera. If you don’t mind that, though, you’ll get decent daytime footage.

Also, at this price, you shouldn’t really expect features such as motion detection and Wi-Fi. But if you’re on a budget, wand want the best basic camera functionality, this is the shirt button spy camera to get.

Buyers’ Guide

With the options out of the way, let’s discuss some of the features you should keep an eye out for. And while with most cameras we’d start with the resolution, here it takes a back seat in favor of the camera’s design. You want your shirt button spy camera to be as compact as possible, and you want it to look like a button, too, which is no easy feat. To add to this, you should consider whether the secondary unit, that usually houses the memory card slot and battery, has enough cable for you to run it to the main one without it being obvious.

Here are detailed instructions on button spy cameras.

Then, you should consider video quality. All the cameras above record at 1080p, which is pretty much the standard nowadays, but if you can spend a bit more, get one that has night time recording with IR LEDs, too. It’s going to help quite a bit in low light situations. (1)

Last but not least, consider additional features. Motion detection is something that’s well worth paying extra for, because it will start recording automatically, without needing user input. And if your budget allows you to do so, go for one that has Wi-Fi functionality, too. It’s going to make things pretty convenient in a lot of situations, and if you ask us, is well worth it.
