When you want to add a touch of hidden surveillance to your room, your best bet is to have a surveillance camera, but one that looks like a common household object. And what’s easier to put in a room than a clock?

With that in mind, there are quite a lot of spy camera clock with motion detection options on the market out there, and it’s difficult to choose one that’s going to work as advertised, without spending hundreds of dollars on one.

We’re here to help, though. Below we’ll be taking a look at three such models, and to make things even better, all of them have one hallmark feature – motion detection. Why do we say motion detection is a must? Because without it, you’d be left going through hours of footage just to find those ten minutes you actually need. Because without it, your spy camera clock with motion detection battery would last only a single day of continuous recording, and you can’t change batteries all the time.

Take a look at our top 5+ hidden camera clocks before making your final decision.

So, that being said, let’s not waste any more time, and take a look at the options we have below.

Best Overall

Resolution: 1920x1080p Full HD
Battery: 5000 mAh
Viewing angle: 90 degrees
Motion Detection

Our first pick comes courtesy of AMCSXH. It’s a wall clock, and it looks just like the one you probably have in your room at the moment. There’s nothing about it that stands out, and there’s nothing about it that will make people suspicious. It’s just a white and silver wall clock.

However, you also get a 1080p camera inside, which will record everything that happens when someone is moving in the room where you place the clock. The video quality is very good, and we have no objections in that regard. We also loved the field of view, because even though not extremely wide, it does allow you to easily observe a room without needing five of these clocks to cover all angles.

Motion detection works as advertised, and the camera starts recording as soon as someone moves. This being a Wi-Fi enabled camera as well, you’ll also get a notification on your smartphone. You can even set it up so it sends three pictures to your phone – you can now see instantly who is there, without needing to do anything manually.

There’s pretty much no downside to the AMCSXH camera. Yes, you will need to spend a few more bucks in order to get a memory card to save all that footage in, but aside from that, it’s pretty much the best choice if you’re looking for a spy camera clock with motion detection.

Night Vision

Moving on, we’ve got something slightly different. Make no mistake, the ICU is still a spy camera clock with motion detection. However, unlike the AMCSXH, which was a wall clock, the ICU is made to resemble an alarm clock, one you’d put on your desk or your nightstand.

While you might think that a wall clock is more convenient, this is actually better in a variety of situations, because you can put it in any room without people becoming suspicious.

To add to that, aside from the clock at the front and the set of buttons at the top, there’s literally nothing to give it away. The lens is hidden next to the clock, but behind a glass that conceals it very well, and the IR LEDs are below said clock, also behind the glass. They’re impossible to see, which is exactly what you want. The camera records 1080p video, with plenty of details and without any compromises. Thanks to the IR LEDs we mentioned earlier, the same is consistent at night as well.

An interesting addition, aside from the fact that you get motion detection, is the fact that you have two-way audioAll things considered, if you want a spy camera clock with motion detection that’s not going to look out of place, you should definitely consider the ICU. (1)

And so, we arrive at the last product on our list. Coincidentally, it’s also the most expensive option on our list, but it does give you a lot of functionality for that money. We’re talking about the LIZVIE spy camera clock with motion detection. Similarly to the ICU model, this one also works by looking like a desk clock, one that’s small and inconspicuous but hides a powerful camera with plenty of features inside.

To begin with, you’ve got a 1080p camera that has a pretty wide field of view. It’s going to capture pretty much anything that happens in the room, and motion detection will make sure that you won’t miss out anything. This is a Wi-Fi enabled camera, so it’s going to connect to your home network and send you notifications on your phone whenever something happens. This is a neat feature, and one that’s going to allow you to know what’s going on at any point in time, regardless of whether you’re around or not.

What’s also a major selling point is the fact that the LIZVIE is an incredibly easy camera to set up. You can also have it shared, so more people can see it, and you can also have multiple of them set up on a single account. It’s just convenient, and it works really well, which is part of why it costs as much as it does.

If you’re looking for something simple that “just does the job”, the LIZVIE may not be for you. It is expensive. But if you believe in investing a bit more in your home security, it’s one you should definitely take a look at.
